It’s been a while since a big election and this is the first time some Tumblrites are voting so here’s a quick warning:

Please Don’t Snapchat, Instagram, take a selfie with, etc, your vote in the voting booth! There are laws in almost every state forbidding sharing your vote, especially if polls haven’t closer yet. If any officials get wind of it they can invalidate your vote, basically throw it away. This was actually a thing during Obama’s election.

So make sure you get out and vote, and make sure it counts! Keep your phone in your pocket for this one.

the holidays are coming up, and as someone who works in a pet store there are some things i want everyone who plans on getting animals as gifts to remember:

• fish tanks need to be set up and running for at least one week before fish can be put it. all fish need treated water and bacteria supplements.
  
• fish can only survive in a plastic bag for about an hour.
• THE ONLY fish that can go in a bowl is a BETTA. all other fish, especially goldfish, will die/be very unhealthy in bowls.
• goldfish are supposed to live for up to 20 years. don’t get all high and mighty for keeping one alive for a few months. they have long life spans when taken proper care of.
• hamsters cannot live together. when they grow up, they become incredibly territorial and aggressive. they are asocial creatures that do not get along with each other.
• guinea pigs can’t go in hamster wheels or balls. they get spinal injuries from being in a curved position and sometimes die.
• rats and guinea pigs do better in groups/pairs.
• hamsters, mice, rats, guinea pigs, cats, and pretty much every single animal can’t live inside a sealed box. they will die. don’t do it.
• puppies get destructive. they break things and make messes and are loud. they need to be trained. don’t get a puppy if you don’t want to deal with training a large animal.
• don’t fucking take kittens and puppies away from their mothers prematurely just because they’re cute. it can affect them forever.
• cats will scratch your furniture and knock things over. declawing cats is a physically harmful and scarring process that literally permanently mutilates their paws. don’t get a cat if you aren’t willing to be patient with them.
• birds are LOUD. SO LOUD. and incredibly messy. and they bite.
• most lizards can get up to two feet long. some can live for 20 years. don’t get a baby bearded dragon and expect it to stay that small forever. they reach their full size within a year.
• pets are real and they have needs. their needs are not luxuries. don’t treat them like they don’t matter.

So a couple months ago I got caught up in an HR investigation. I put in a complaint about how I was being treated because I was transgender.

Long story short they said they didn’t find any evidence because everything was verbal. So they told me to go back to work or transfer. But they made me jump through all these unnecessary hoops so I ended up getting fired because I told them I would not go back to work in unsafe working conditions.

I am in major debt because I have been out of work for nearly three months. I just got a new job but I am $6000 in debt and I will only be getting paid 9.50 despite my experience.

So people are freaking out about Windows 10′s “Wi-Fi Sense” app.

The assumption that Tumblr is taking as fact because that’s what Tumblr does:

“Wi-Fi Sense gives your wi-fi password to your Skype friends list, your Facebook friends list, your AIM friends list, and every other friends list on your computer; all without you knowing. Please be informed and follow this tutorial to turn it off.”

The truth:

- Wi-Fi Sense has to be manually downloaded, first off.

- Secondly, it doesn’t give your wi-fi password out. It gives access to your network to anyone on your Skype/Facebook/whatever buddy lists, so they don’t need you to TELL THEM your password.

- The purpose of this is simple: If your friends come over with their laptop and they wanna use your internet, you can passively give them access because you have them on your Skype buddy list. This way, you don’t have to give them a receipt with blue sharpie on it that has a fucking 480 character password on it so they can get into your wi-fi.

- The password isn’t stored anywhere on their computer, it’s stored on yours, just as it’s always been, just as it always will be. All Wi-Fi Sense does is give them access to your wi-fi without a password.

- Therefore, Wi-Fi Sense is actually leaps and bounds more safe and secure than just normal wi-fi usage. You literally don’t have to tell anyone your password. Like ever. Hell you don’t even have to tell it to your own family, you can just select their computer on the network and allow or deny them access remotely.

I’m not gonna ask everyone to spread the word here because it’s gonna fall on deaf ears once it hits the Anti-Win10 crowd, but if you’ve been seeing the BS about Wi-Fi Sense going around, don’t believe it. Once again, Tumblr is extremely misinformed and didn’t take the time to search Google for about 12 seconds.

If anyone in California is interested in adopting a dog or a cat, Kerns County Animal Shelter ( one of the most disgraceful shelters in California ) is being shut down. Dogs are being sold for 15$ and cats for 5$ ( all are fixed with shots. )

Every animal will be put down by September 30th.

Hi. I’m Shane Burcaw, and if you don’t know me, I’m the dude with the enormous head in the picture above. I was born with a lovely disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy. It causes my muscles to waste away as I get older. I’ve been in a wheelchair my entire life. If you’re in the market for a new disease, I’d highly recommend this one.

I am on a mission to help other people with my disease, and I believe that my incredibly supportive Tumblr family can help me achieve those dreams.

I’m going to keep this super brief: Living with muscular dystrophy is fucking expensive. I need about 45,000 different pieces of specialized equipment just to stay alive and comfortable. But here’s the shitty part: There are so many people with my disease who don’t have those items they need to thrive. 

I want to change that.
